PolyMem

The ONLY dressing of its kind…

Polymeric membrane dressing

A unique multifunctional polymeric membrane dressing, designed to facilitate healing, relieve pain and reduce inflammation.

PolyMem® dressings are a hydrophilic polyurethane matrix dressing with a mild, non-toxic wound cleanser, a soothing moisturiser, a superabsorbent and a semi-permeable film backing*.

When PolyMem is applied to the wound, the dressing components work individually and synergistically to support wound healing and pain relief1.

How the PolyMem formulation works:

All PolyMem dressings effectively cleanse, fill, absorb and moisten wounds throughout the healing continuum. The diagram below explains how each of these elements work.

Key Benefits
  • Modulates inflammatory response

By altering the actions of certain nerve endings (nociceptors)2

Also effective in decreasing bruising, swelling and secondary injury3,4

  • Relieves pain

PolyMem dressings achieve significant pain relief by inhibiting the nociceptor response both locally and centrally

Proven to provide an analgesic effect2,5

  • Debrides the wound
  • Simplified dressing choice
  • Protects from contamination
  • Available in Silver
  • Multiple configurations

Indications

PolyMem is indicated for a wide variety of full- and partial- thickness painful wounds including, but not limited to:

Acute Wounds
  • Abrasions
  • Bruising
  • First / second-degree burns
  • Skin tears
  • Surgical wounds
  • Trauma wounds
Chronic Wounds
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Fungating wounds
  • Leg ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers (stages I-IV)
Specialist wounds
  • Dermatological disorders (e.g. epidermolysis bullosa)
  • Donor and graft sites
  • Exposed tendons
  • Radiotherapy-induced skin damage

Applying PolyMem*

1. Prepare the wound according to local protocol

2. Select a dressing with the membrane pad (0.6 – 5cm) larger than the wound

TIP: For dry wounds, moisten dressing slightly with sterile water or saline prior to application

3. Apply the dressing film side out (so printing is visible)

4. Secure non-bordered dressings, with either tape, netting, gauze or bandaging

5. Outline the wound on the top of the dressing to determine when to change

NOTE: a dramatic increase in wound fluid may be observed during the first few days due to the fluid attraction. This is not uncommon and indicates that the dressing is working.

PolyMem Silver

Antimicrobial polymeric membrane dressing

A unique multifunctional polymeric membrane dressing, designed to facilitate healing, relieve pain and reduce inflammation.

PolyMem® Silver is made from small particle elemental, metallic silver and delivers all the benefits of PolyMem, with the added antimicrobial effect – all without releasing silver into the wound bed. An ideal choice for infected and malodorous wounds.

The ONLY dressing of its kind…

When PolyMem Silver is applied to the wound, the dressing components work individually and synergistically to support wound healing and pain relief1.

How the PolyMem Silver formulation works:

High purity small silver particles are uniformly distributed throughout and bound into the PolyMem formulated membrane for maximum surface area and effectiveness. Silver ions, which provide the antimicrobial action, are released from the surface of the silver particles when they come in contact with moisture.

All PolyMem dressings effectively cleanse, fill, absorb and moisten wounds throughout the healing continuum. The diagram below explains how each of these elements work.

Key Benefits
  • Modulates inflammatory response

By altering the actions of certain nerve endings (nociceptors)2

Also effective in decreasing bruising, swelling and secondary injury3,4

  • Relieves pain

PolyMem dressings achieve significant pain relief by inhibiting the nociceptor response both locally and centrally

Proven to provide an analgesic effect2,5

  • Debrides the wound
  • Simplified dressing choice
  • Protects from contamination
  • Multiple configurations
  • Generates silver ions consistently from a continuous silver reservoir
  • Reduces bioburden in the dressing
  • Kills 99.9% of entire population of all bacteria and fungi tested*
  • Absorbs up to 10 times its dressing weight in exudate
  • Maintains a moist wound healing environment for improved healing
  • Eliminates needs for secondary dressing (except when using PolyMem WIC Silver)
  • Won’t stain skin

Indications

PolyMem Silver is indicated for a wide variety of infected full- and partial- thickness painful wounds including, but not limited to:

Acute Wounds

• First / second-degree burns

• Skin tears

• Surgical wounds

Chronic Wounds

• Diabetic foot ulcers

• Leg ulcers

• Pressure ulcers (stages I-IV)

Specialist wounds

• Dermatological disorders (e.g. epidermolysis bullosa)

• Donor and graft sites

Applying PolyMem Silver*

1. Prepare the wound according to local protocol

2. Select a dressing with the membrane pad (0.6 – 5cm) larger than the wound

3. Apply the dressing film side out (so printing is visible)

4. Secure non-bordered dressings, with either tape, netting, gauze or bandaging

  • Provides a naturally effective antimicrobial barrier for up to 7 days
  • Easy to apply and remove
  • Can be cut to shape and folded

*Adsorption is the process where molecules physically adhere to surface of the adsorbent dressing.

Indications

Zorflex is indicated as an antimicrobial dressing for over discharging, partial or full thickness wounds such as:

  • Venous leg ulcers
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Fungating carcinomas
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Trauma
  • Surgical sites

Contraindications

Not for use on dry wounds as this may cause the dressing to adhere to the wound.

Applying Zorflex*

  1. Cleanse the wound bed with sterile water or follow local guidelines, ensure that the wound bed is free from any traces of creams or ointments
  2. Cut the dressing to shape, covering the peri-wound if maceration is evident
  3. Apply the dressing directly to the wound surface either way up, with the direction of stretch running along the limb to allow movement
  4. Secure Zorflex with an appropriate secondary dressing/compression therapy or with a retention sheet, tape or bandage that allows the transfer of exudate into the secondary dressing without disturbing Zorflex or the wound bed N.B. The performance will be impaired if not placed directly onto the wound
